This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Platform Software Engineer - Platform Architect based in India. This is a senior engineering opportunity focused on shaping next-generation platform management and networking architecture. You will architect and implement OpenBMC-based solutions that bring together server management, secure firmware, and Ethernet switching. The role combines low-level software engineering, Linux systems, networking, hardware integration, and platform security. You will design reusable management services, APIs, telemetry, configuration, and lifecycle capabilities across complex computing platforms. Working across hardware, ASIC, security, firmware, QA, manufacturing, and networking teams, you will influence architecture from design through production. The position offers the opportunity to solve challenging infrastructure problems at the intersection of data-center systems and high-performance networking. Success means delivering reliable, secure, vendor-independent management architectures that can scale across future platforms. Architect and implement OpenBMC support for platforms where the BMC manages both host-system functions and a coordinated top-of-rack Ethernet switch subsystem. Define end-to-end switch-management architecture spanning OpenBMC D-Bus services, bmcweb/Redfish APIs, persistent configuration, eventing, telemetry, security, and backend switch-control interfaces. Develop object models and services covering switch inventory, ASICs, ports, PHYs, optics, retimers, VLANs, LAGs, FDB entries, counters, sensors, and overall health state. Implement Layer 2 networking capabilities including port administration, speed and FEC configuration, auto-negotiation, breakout, VLANs, access/trunk modes, MAC learning, FDB management, flooding controls, link aggregation, and loop prevention. Build backend abstraction layers capable of integrating with Linux switchdev/netlink, SAI/SONiC/SWSS-style components, DENT-based Linux networking, and vendor-specific switch ASIC SDKs. Collaborate with hardware, ASIC, security, firmware, QA, manufacturing, and cloud infrastructure networking teams to influence board architecture, schematics, manageability interfaces, and production testing strategies. Produce and review architecture specifications, API documentation, production-quality code, unit tests, hardware-in-the-loop tests, integration tests, and QA plans. Drive a reusable architecture that supports multiple switch backend implementations while maintaining a clear separation between management-plane and data-plane responsibilities. Improve platform reliability through safe defaults, validated configuration persistence, rollback mechanisms, diagnostics, telemetry, and secure lifecycle management. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or higher, or equivalent professional experience, in Computer Science, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, or a related technical discipline, with 12+ years of relevant experience. Strong hands-on experience developing OpenBMC firmware for x86 or ARM-based server environments, including Yocto, systemd, D-Bus, phosphor services, bmcweb, Redfish, firmware updates, device monitoring, and platform security. Solid understanding of Ethernet switch architecture and Layer 2 technologies, including VLANs, trunks, access ports, LAG/LACP, STP/RSTP, LLDP, FDB/MAC learning, storm control, ACLs, QoS, PHY management, and transceiver diagnostics. Experience with system-management technologies for rack or blade server platforms, including IPMI, KCS, Redfish, PLDM, MCTP, SPDM, secure firmware updates, attestation, and BMC-host communication. Strong programming and debugging capabilities in C/C++ and Python, with familiarity with Bash, Go, or Rust and the ability to build reliable Linux user-space services and review low-level system code. Experience working across complex hardware/software environments, wit
