This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Power System Engineer III based in the United States. The Power System Engineer III will contribute to the design and modernization of complex electrical grids, with a strong focus on renewable energy integration. The role centers on generation and load interconnection studies across the Western Electricity Coordinating Council footprint. You will evaluate grid capacity, system impacts, and interconnection strategies for projects involving solar PV, battery energy storage, and wind generation. The position combines detailed power system modeling, engineering analysis, project execution, and client collaboration. You will work with industry-standard tools such as PSS/E, PSLF, and PSCAD to develop and validate sophisticated generation models. There are also opportunities to contribute to specialized studies, innovative engineering methodologies, and the organization’s technical knowledge base. This is an opportunity to help shape a more sustainable, secure, and resilient power grid while working with experienced energy professionals. Perform and lead generation integration and load interconnection studies within the WECC footprint. Evaluate grid capacity and system impacts to identify optimal interconnection strategies for new generation and load projects. Support interconnection projects through power system modeling, due diligence, technical analysis, and engineering assessments. Create, develop, and validate PSS/E, PSLF, and PSCAD models for renewable energy resources, including solar PV, battery energy storage systems, and wind generation. Conduct and contribute to specialized power system studies such as sub-synchronous resonance, protection coordination, arc flash, and transient overvoltage analyses when required. Analyze complex technical issues and communicate findings and recommendations clearly to internal and external stakeholders. Contribute to the development of innovative study approaches, engineering techniques, and organizational knowledge resources. Participate in engineering meetings, conferences, and technical discussions, and communicate relevant findings and industry developments. Manage multiple projects, tasks, and resources while maintaining quality, accuracy, and delivery expectations. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and other technical stakeholders. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives supporting advanced energy analysis and grid modernization. Requirements 3+ years of professional experience as a Power Systems Engineer or in a closely related power engineering role. Experience with generation integration, load interconnection, or power system studies is strongly preferred. Practical experience developing or validating power system models using tools such as PSS/E, PSLF, and PSCAD. Knowledge of renewable generation technologies, particularly solar PV, battery energy storage systems, and wind generation. Understanding of grid capacity, system impacts, interconnection processes, and power system modeling principles. Experience with specialized studies such as sub-synchronous resonance, protection coordination, arc flash, or transient overvoltage is a plus. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to evaluate complex power system challenges and develop practical recommendations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and resources simultaneously.
