This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a DevOps Engineer based in United States. This role combines backend software engineering with cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and security to support secure and reliable data platforms. You will build TypeScript and Node.js services while owning the GCP infrastructure and delivery systems behind them. The position offers the opportunity to work on data access, platform reliability, governance, and secure technology delivery within a technically sophisticated environment. You will design access controls, manage infrastructure as code, strengthen CI/CD pipelines, and improve observability across production systems. The role also involves close collaboration with scientific and technical stakeholders to enable data-driven discovery initiatives. It is well suited to an engineer who enjoys broad ownership, continuous learning, and solving complex platform challenges. Design, build, maintain, and improve backend services using TypeScript and Node.js, ensuring reliable, secure, and well-structured APIs. Implement and manage role-based access control across applications and data layers, supporting secure and governed access to sensitive data. Design and evolve relational database schemas and migrations using Prisma or a comparable ORM, while maintaining strong SQL practices and query performance. Develop and govern BigQuery access patterns at row, dataset, and table levels to support appropriate data access and governance. Build and maintain GCP infrastructure across Cloud Run, Artifact Registry, Cloud SQL, IAM, and VPC Service Controls. Define and manage infrastructure as code using Terraform, supporting repeatable, scalable, and secure cloud environments. Own CI/CD workflows through GitHub Actions, covering automated build, testing, deployment, and release processes. Maintain production security by addressing dependencies and vulnerabilities, managing secrets, and triaging tools such as Dependabot. Containerize applications with Docker and maintain reproducible build and release processes. Implement observability, logging, monitoring, and alerting using Cloud Monitoring and related technologies. Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, incident response, and continuous improvements to platform reliability. Apply AI-assisted coding tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude within established engineering guardrails to accelerate development while maintaining code quality. Collaborate with engineers, data teams, scientific stakeholders, and other groups to translate requirements into effective technical solutions. Work independently across multiple projects and priorities while contributing to a collaborative, distributed engineering team. Requirements: 2–7 years of professional software engineering or platform engineering experience, with strong hands-on backend development experience in TypeScript and Node.js. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Demonstrated experience designing and implementing production-grade role-based access control systems. Strong knowledge of relational database design, SQL, migrations, and Prisma or a comparable ORM. Practical experience with BigQuery, including row-, dataset-, or table-level access patterns. Production experience managing GCP infrastructure, particularly Cloud Run, Artifact Registry, Cloud SQL, and IAM. Strong infrastructure-as-code experience using Terraform or a comparable technology. Experience owning CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions or similar tools across build, testing, and deployment stages. Experience with Docker containerization in production environments. Knowledge of cloud networking, identity, security, dependency management, vulnerability remediation, and secrets management. Experience with observability, logging, and monitoring using Cloud
