This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Development Officer based in Canada. This is an opportunity to lead diverse fundraising portfolios within a mission-driven organization focused on advancing equality, human rights, and meaningful social change. You will manage relationships across individual, corporate, and foundation giving, helping strengthen long-term donor engagement and revenue growth. The role combines relationship management, strategic communications, fundraising campaigns, stewardship, events, and planned giving. You will work closely with senior leadership, donors, prospects, Board members, and internal teams to turn philanthropic relationships into lasting impact. As a senior member of the Development function, you will also supervise and mentor a Development Coordinator while helping strengthen team practices and processes. The ideal candidate is an experienced fundraiser who brings strong judgment, excellent communication skills, creativity, and exceptional organizational discipline. Lead the Individual, Corporate, and Foundation Giving portfolios through strategic relationship management, prospecting, cultivation, solicitation, reporting, and stewardship. Build and maintain meaningful relationships with donors, prospects, corporate sponsors, foundations, Board members, and other key stakeholders. Develop and execute two annual digital fundraising campaigns, including campaign planning, communications, donor engagement, and performance follow-up. Lead donor communications, gift processing and acknowledgment, recognition initiatives, stewardship activities, and donor-facing events. Manage planned giving activities, including estate and bequest administration, prospect identification, relationship development, and planned giving marketing initiatives. Develop and coordinate compelling proposals, donor reports, event/project reports, and other fundraising communications. Ensure corporate sponsorship commitments and contractual obligations are fulfilled accurately and on time. Conduct prospect research and identify opportunities to grow and diversify philanthropic support. Maintain accurate donor information and use CRM systems and other tools to support effective relationship management and reporting. Provide supervision, mentorship, advice, and direction to the Development Coordinator, helping strengthen skills, accountability, and overall team effectiveness. Collaborate with the Development Director and broader team to align fundraising priorities with organizational strategy and impact. Manage development projects from initiation through delivery, balancing multiple priorities, deadlines, stakeholders, and feedback channels. Contribute to recognition and stewardship strategies that strengthen donor loyalty and long-term engagement. Requirements Bachelor’s or advanced degree in business, marketing, communications, education, educational technology, or a related discipline is preferred; an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered. 4–5 years of fundraising experience across individual giving, donor relations, philanthropy, sponsorship, planned giving, events, or related development functions, with a demonstrated record of success in relationship management, reporting, stewardship, and donor/client engagement. Previous experience working in a senior development or comparable fundraising role. Familiarity with the 2SLGBTQI community and related human rights issues , with a genuine commitment to advancing equality and social justice. Experience in a nonprofit, 2SLGBTQI, social justice, or similarly mission-driven environment is strongly valued.
