This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Data Protection Lead Engineer based in India. This is a senior cybersecurity role focused on protecting sensitive enterprise data across a global technology environment. You will lead the technical strategy and architecture for a large-scale Data Loss Prevention (DLP) program. The role combines Microsoft Purview and Sentinel expertise with cloud security, automation, APIs, and emerging AI/ML techniques. You will translate complex security requirements into scalable solutions while balancing strong protection with business usability. As a technical leader, you will influence architecture decisions, resolve high-risk incidents, and improve detection and response capabilities. You will also mentor engineers and collaborate with senior stakeholders across security, privacy, infrastructure, and business teams. Own the technical strategy, architecture, roadmap, and policy design for a global DLP program using Microsoft Purview, Sentinel, or equivalent enterprise security platforms. Design and implement advanced DLP policies that effectively protect sensitive information while maintaining usability across regions and business units. Apply machine learning and AI techniques to improve data classification, reduce false positives, enhance threat detection, and strengthen data protection capabilities. Architect and oversee automated workflows and data pipelines using technologies such as Python and Azure Logic Apps to transform DLP telemetry into actionable security insights. Design, manage, and govern RESTful APIs that integrate DLP platforms with broader cybersecurity and technology ecosystems. Lead investigations into complex and high-risk data loss incidents, including remediation, root-cause analysis, and implementation of preventative measures. Develop executive-level metrics, dashboards, and reporting that provide clear visibility into data loss risks, security posture, and program maturity. Translate ambiguous business and security requirements into technical roadmaps while managing scope, feasibility, priorities, and resources. Present architecture decisions, technical strategies, and recommendations to senior leadership and cross-functional governance forums to secure alignment and approval. Drive continuous improvement across DLP tooling, processes, detection capabilities, and operating models, including adoption of emerging AI/ML security technologies. Lead technical retrospectives and process improvement initiatives, addressing systemic issues and removing recurring operational gaps. Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through technical guidance, architecture and code reviews, knowledge sharing, and professional development. Collaborate with security, privacy, infrastructure, and business teams to remove cross-functional roadblocks and advance enterprise-wide data protection initiatives. Requirements: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline. At least 5 years of professional cybersecurity experience, including 3+ years specializing in Data Loss Prevention, data governance, or closely related security domains. 3+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview and/or Microsoft Sentinel, ideally within a large enterprise environment. At least 2 years of practical experience with Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including securing and protecting data across cloud environments. Demonstrated ability to apply machine learning or artificial intelligence concepts to cybersecurity, data protection, classification, threat detection, or related use cases. Strong understanding of DLP architecture, policy development, data classification, security monitoring, incident investigation, and enterprise data protection practices. Experience designing automated workflows and integrations using Python
