This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Head of Engineer - Web3/Crypto based in Canada. This is a high-impact engineering leadership role focused on building innovative products at the intersection of blockchain, cryptocurrency, and digital collectibles. You’ll lead technical teams across the full software development lifecycle, from architecture and product conception through deployment and ongoing optimization. The role combines hands-on engineering with strategic leadership, requiring strong expertise across both front-end and back-end development. You’ll help shape secure, scalable blockchain applications while contributing to new approaches for connecting physical assets with digital experiences. Your responsibilities will span engineering execution, team development, data analysis, transaction monitoring, security, and technical strategy. You’ll work in a fully distributed environment with flexible hours and a strong emphasis on innovation, ownership, collaboration, and continuous learning. Lead the design and implementation of innovative capabilities leveraging blockchain technologies while managing, mentoring, and coordinating engineering teams. Own technical direction and contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from architecture and development through testing, deployment, and continuous improvement. Develop and maintain scalable, reliable, and well-functioning applications and databases. Design and build blockchain-based applications using technologies such as Solidity, JavaScript, and Web3 libraries. Develop secure systems for recording and storing blockchain data while protecting digital transactions against unauthorized changes, vulnerabilities, and attacks. Research, evaluate, design, develop, and test emerging blockchain technologies and applications. Build high-quality, scalable, maintainable, and secure software across front-end and back-end systems. Support transaction monitoring capabilities designed to identify and address risks associated with cryptocurrency and digital asset activity. Analyze complex datasets and translate findings into meaningful insights that support product, business, and risk-related decisions. Develop rules, models, queries, and software solutions for analyzing and visualizing data. Establish team goals, manage project timelines and delivery milestones, and ensure effective allocation of engineering resources and budgets. Collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders to align technical execution with product objectives and business priorities. Document new technical solutions and maintain accurate documentation for existing systems and applications. Prepare reports and technical updates addressing cryptocurrency risks, digital asset activity, and potential criminal or suspicious activity. Continuously identify opportunities to improve engineering practices, system performance, security, scalability, and development processes. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or a related technical field. 7+ years of engineering or technical management experience, including demonstrated experience leading development teams. At least 2 years of hands-on blockchain development experience with Solidity, Ethereum, or another blockchain ecosystem. Strong understanding of blockchain applications, protocols, and development libraries such as Web3.js. Experience developing and deploying blockchain-based applications and working with smart contracts. Strong understanding of multiple front-end and back-end programming languages, frameworks, and libraries, with experience spanning technologies such as JavaScript, HTML/CSS, XML, jQuery, C#, Java, or Python.
